Calangute is a town which is referred to as census town with the permanent population of around 16,000 in the year 2001 in North Goa. It is one of the famous beaches and largest known beach in North Goa which is visited by International and National tourists alike. The major attraction over here is during the month of New Year and Christmas and also during the duration of summer which is in month of May. But during the monsoon season you could find the sea to be rough and swimming is prohibited during that duration. The beach does offer sports activities such as parasailing, water skiing and some other adventurous sports.
How to reach Calangute?
It is one of the popular and common locations at the tourist destinations at Goa and is just situated 13Km from Panaji and just 8 Km from Mapusa.
- Via Bus
There are frequent buses which are running from different location to other parts of Goa, but in case you are travelling for the longer distance then there could be chances that you would have to change the buses which could be at least for 3 times.
- Via Train
The closest railway station is Thivim and from there the taxi takes around 20 minutes and charges are somewhere around Rs 400. Some other railway stations are Vasco Da Gama and Margao.
- Via Taxi
You can get the prepaid taxis from outside the counter on the airport but if you are directly contacting with the driver then there could be chances that it could charge on the lower rate.

The nearest port is Dabolim (29Km) away from Panaji. As Panaji is just half an hour’s drive from Calangute.
